House of Rice Roll & Porridge

I have always been under the impression that a restaurant named "House of  ..." implies that the restaurant specialises in said cuisine. Armed with anticipation, I walked into House of Rice Roll & Porridge, ready to be swept away by delicious rice roll and porridge.

Besides rice roll (also known as chee cheong fun) and porridge, the restaurant also serves glutinous rice ball, snacks, fried rice and desserts.

Char Siew Chee Cheong Fun is silky-smooth and the char siew inside is well-marinated, but it is a little too soft. It would be nice if I can pick it up without it falling apart.

Fresh Scallop Porridge/Congee is a total disappointment. The porridge tastes bland and I can hardly taste the scallop because the scallop pieces are tiny.

To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I expected so much since it is supposed to specialise in porridge/congee and rice roll (chee cheong fun), yet I get food that is at best comparable to the ones in hawker centres. Posted on the walls are newspaper articles featuring Durian Chee Cheong Fun. I might come back just to try the Durian Chee Cheong Fun, more for the novelty than for superior quality or taste (which clearly does not exist).
