Bangkok Jam (Bugis Junction)

I am sure most Singaporeans are familiar with the trendy Thai bistro, Bangkok Jam. There are eight outlets spread all around Singapore.

Apparently, Bangkok Jam is part of the Creative Eateries Group, with presence in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and China.

Green Papaya Salad with Soft-Shell Crab is one of the must-order dishes when you visit Bangkok Jam. Of course, the taste has been altered to suit the Singaporean palate, so it is way sweeter than the real papaya salad found in Bangkok which is so sour your tongue will go numb.

Seafood Phad Thai is the signature Thai dish of phad thai sautéed with fresh seafood. It is overly sweet, but the squid is so tender.

Go for Tom Yum Fried Rice with Seafood if you are looking for something a little more filling. Be warned, it is extremely spicy although it doesn't look like it.

Be sure to ask for two bowls of rice when you order Minced Chicken with Basil because it is rather salty.

Massaman Beef Curry is a relatively mild Thai curry that is an interpretation of a Persian dish. Huge chunks of beef are stew until tender in a sweet and fragrant curry.

Yellow Chicken Curry is a mild curry that is suitable for non-spicy eaters like me. The curry is rather sweet and it is excellent with potatoes and chicken.

Caramelized Tapioca is a traditional Thai dessert that is enjoyed by all. It is normally eaten with coconut milk for a creamier taste.

Bangkok Jam's interpretation of the traditional Thai dishes can be somewhat of a hit-or-miss, but overall the quality of food is still acceptable.

Addresses, telephone numbers and opening hours of all 8 outlets can be found here
