Guo Fu Steamboat

Guo Fu Steamboat has been operating in Singapore since 2005, bringing authentic fat cow (premium beef) Northeast China steamboat to Singaporeans.

This is what we will be having today: Ala Carte Hotpot Buffet. There are over 50 raw ingredients to choose from.

There are 10 type of soup bases to choose from. You can opt for mini personal pots but I highly recommend getting the "yuan-yang pot" where you can select two soup bases. Please note that the soup bases are not included in the ala carte buffet and you have to top-up the charges for the soup bases separately.

There are over 10 types of sauces available. You can mix and match to create your own speciality sauce. Must-have China steamboat steamboat sauces such as sesame paste are also available.

All the ingredients are prepared fresh upon order, you can be assured of i quality. The highlight is of course the Sliced Special Beef which is machine-sliced when still frozen, giving it a beautiful pinkish-red color. However, it wasn't as good as I has anticipated because there is a graininess to the meat, which makes me wish for beef of a higher grade such as wagyu beef.

There are also cooked foods such as Xiao Long Bao, Steamed Dumpling, Steamed Twisted Roll, Small Steamed Bun and Shallot Pancake, but the Xiao Long Bao's quality is really not up to mark. It is dry as a thistle and the skin breaks easily.

Dessert includes Fresh Fruit, Pumpkin Puree, Pumpkin Cake and Fried Banana Fritter. Fried Banana Fritter is essentially the Malay snack "pisang goreng" that we are familiar with, except that the banana are sliced instead of a whole banana.

Pocket-friendly prices, friendly service and fresh ingredients make Guo Fu Steamboat the perfect place for a great meal. Apparently, this restaurant is not only popular with the Chinese, even Japanese and Koreans patronise patronise this place.
