Eat at Seven: Nikunoki

Eat at Seven at level 3 of Suntec City Mall features 7 of Japan's best and trending specialist concept restaurants is brought into Singapore by Global Retail Partners, a joint venture by ANA Trading, Komars Group and local restaurateur Mr Andrew Tan who owns Tomo F&B Group.

Japanese cuisine is one of my favorite cuisines, so I am going to dedicate the whole of December to the review of these 7 restaurants.

Nikunoki, which literally means "The Day of Meat", serves authentic roast beef and premium meats. Nikunohi is sister restaurant of Nigiro Cafe, helmed by Chef Kensuke Sakai, the youngest contestant on popular Japan television cooking show, Iron Chef.

Besides the ala carte menu which features the restaurant's specialty A5 Kuroge Wagyu from Kagoshima, there are various promotions to ensure that all Singaporeans can enjoy delicious beef without burning a hole in their pocket.

There was a Roast Beef Promotion going on which reminded me of Haru Haru's Wagyu Don which left a great impression on me, so I ordered the Roast Beef Don. The presentation is really beautiful with pieces of lightly-roasted beef slices piled on top of fragrant Hokkaido rice, served with a soft boiled egg that spills golden lava of egg yolk when cut open. The dish is accompanied by a creamy wasabi sauce, but the overall taste is a little too bland for my liking.

When I have the time and money, I will try out Nikunoki's specialty A5 Kuroge Wagyu from Kagoshima, which is supposed to be one of the best beef money can buy.
