Monster Curry (Suntec City) - The Best Japanese Curry I Have Had So Far

I have been looking forward to the opening of the Suntec City outlet of Monster Curry ever since the poster first came out.  Monster Curry's signature curry contains 14 species and vegetables, which are cooked for 2 days to bring out the full flavours of the ingredients. Monster Curry is the only restaurant in Singapore to serve "demi-glace" curry, marked by the deep brown colour and intense flavours of the curry.   There are altogether 5 spiciness levels and chilli "hearts" are added to the curry to achieve the desired spiciness: 1 heart = spicy level 1, 2 hearts = spicy level 2 and so on.  Mind you, Monster Curry's chilli sauce is not the usual kind that you can get at any supermarket. It is a special recipe of chilli padi, garlic, ginger and celery. This is the actual menu of Monster Curry's Suntec City outlet. The menu is divided into Monster Curry, Katsu Curry, Seafood Curry and Drinks. The curry is, all the same, the dishes are named after the ingr...

The Magic of Chongqing Hot Pot - Pricey Traditional Chinese Steamboat at Tanglin Shopping Centre

Hidden at the back of the fourth floor of Tanglin Shopping Centre, the Magic of Chongqing Hot Pot started operation in 1994 and it has been around for more than 20 years. It is one of the first Sichuan hot pot restaurants to open in Southeast-east.        The interior of the restaurant is furnished with faux stucco walls, oriental ornaments and red lanterns coupled with wooden tables and chairs to recreate the feel of a country house in Sichuan.      The restaurant has a good collection of Chinese wines such as Shao Xing Lao Ju, Nu Er Hong (I have only read about this liquor in Chinese wuxia novels!)      There are 64 ingredients available for the dinner hotpot buffet, with sweet and savoury titbits and desserts thrown in to make it look more appealing.      There are 3 booths available for the dinner house hotpot: Ma-la Tang, Faithful Chicken Broth   and Preserved Sour Vegetable in Chicken Broth.    ...

Lao Huo Tang - Traditional Chinese Herbal Soup

Shen Xi "Lao Huo Tang" was first established in 2008 at Chinatown's Lao Ba Sha and this humble soup restaurant has since become a multi-chain enterprise with more than 60 outlets in food courts island-wide.    Shen Xi "Lao Huo Tang" has been featured in newspapers such as Xin Ming Daily and Lian He Zao Bao and the restaurant has received many awards and accolades such as Lian He Zao Bao's "Most Loved Hawker Stall 2010", "2012 Top Ten Favorite Restaurants" and Pacific Brands Award's "Singapore's Finest 2012".     Shen Xi "Lao Huo Tang" is a soup restaurant, so the signature dishes are the Cantonese-style soups that the restaurant is known for.   Mummy's ABC Soup , also known as "Luo Song Tang", is a soup that is commonly found in Singapore. Pork ribs are cooked with carrots, corn, onions and celery, making this a nutritious soup loaded with Vitamins A, B and C. I like that spare ribs are used ins...
