MEET Noodles 面面 - Hand-Pulled Lanzhou Beef Noodles

When I ate at   Ma Zi Lu Beef Noodle   back in 2019, I didn’t know much about lanzhou beef noodles. I was only there because it was a newly-opened restaurant and many people were talking about it. Those hand-pulled noodles are so springy and tasty that I kept going back for more. I was so sorry to see the  restaurant close down but I have found another restaurant that does the same hand-pulled noodles - MEET Noodles in Grandtral Mall in Clementi. Now I know that an authentic bowl of lanzhou beef noodle must meet these 5 criteria - 一清二白三红四绿五黄 which translates to: clear soup  white radish slices  red chilli oil  chopped green spring onions  yellowish hand-pulled noodles   Besides beef noodles, MEET Noodles offers many other types of noodles and Shaanxi snacks. Here is the menu for your reference. MEET Noodles offers 7 different types of noodles to choose from with varying thickness from right to left. The Food This is MEET Noodles’   Sig...

PM Chicken by Pizza Maru - Seoul Yummy Fried Chicken Concept

You can only eat so much   Jollibee   before you get tired of it. Luckily, I found a new spot in Square 2 which sells Korean fried chicken - PM Chicken by Pizza Maru.  Besides Korean fried chicken, you can also find twigim (Korean tempura), toppokki, pasta, risotto and mocktails on  PM Chicken’s menu. You can either get the staff to take your order and pay at the cashier after your meal or use the new cashless method. You can scan the QR code on the corner of each table, pick your orders and pay on your smartphone. I find this method easier as you don’t have to wait for the staff to notice your waving hand.  Many Korean restaurants don’t provide banchan (side dishes) like these anymore so I was pleasantly surprised when they presented me with 5 side dishes. The side dishes change everyday but there will always be kimchi. I liked the bean sprouts and kimchi so much that I had them refill them twice for me. It’s free-flow, so why not?  There are both spi...

Tipo Strada - Casual Italian Cafe Sells Handmade Pasta

A new pasta cafe Tipo Strada has opened in Royal Square Novena @  Novena and my colleagues are full of praises for it. Tipo Strada is a halal restaurant which makes it a popular spot for Muslims working in the area.  Let me show you Tipo Strada and their awesome pastas! Tipo Strada - Design  Tipo Strada is a tiny restaurant. In fact, there are only 4 tables inside the restaurant. Thankfully, there are some alfresco seats which brings the total seating capacity to about 20 people. The wood-themed decorations gives the place a cosy feeling while panels of pink  breaths some life into the place. The best part about Tipo Strada are definitely the freshly-made pastas. You can see strips of them hanging in a glass cabinet by the entrance in various colors. They make me anticipate my pastas a little more.  Tipo Strada - The Food  There is no physical menu, you can scan the QR code on each table that brings you to the   online menu . I have screenshot t...

BBQ Box 串烧工坊 (Geylang) - Northeastern Chinese Style Skewers

It has been many months since I last had northeastern Chinese food at   Dong Bei Ren Jia 东北人家   and   Dong Bei Xiao Chu 东北小厨 . I decided to satisfy my craving for northeastern Chinese food at a restaurant I have been eyeing on - BBQ Box 串烧工坊. As the name implies, BBQ Box specializes in barbecue. In particular, they specialize in northeastern Chinese style of barbecue. BBQ Box has 3 outlets located in Geylang, Bugis and Chinatown. BBQ Box (Geylang)  BBQ Box’s Geylang outlet is their first outlet. It is decorated in mechanical design with brick walls and engine art on the walls. The brown wooden tables and black chairs are widely spaced apart, in accordance with Covid-19 safe distancing measures.  The restaurant looks clean and tidy, I am liking the place so far.   BBQ Box - The Food  There is a saying that roughly translates to “give a northeastern Chinese a stove and they can grill the world” and BBQ Box’s menu clearly exemplifies that. Look at ...
