Hifumi (Marina Square)

Individually-packed wet towels and chopsticks to ensure hygiene.

The free-flow side dishes is probably the biggest draw of this restaurant. Some of the more notable side dishes are Sweet Potato with Honey Lemon, Chawanmushi and Chicken & Vegetable Ankake. Don't even bother trying the the rest such as Zaru Udon with Spicy Sauce which tastes just a little better than plain water or Cheese Fondue with Vegetables which is very watery.

Kimchi Oyster Hotpot is an excellent fusion of Japanese cuisine and Korean cuisine. The oysters are fresh and the kimchi gives a statisfying kick.

Teriyaki Salmon Donabe is a simple dish but the pan-fried salmon fillet in teriyaki sauce is made all the more satisfying with fragrant Japanese rice.

Doesn't the Beef Sukiyaki Hotpot look drool-worthy? The beef slices are so fresh they are practically pink in color. Remember to dip the cook beef in the raw egg provided, you will love it.

You can also order from the ala carte menu, but I have to warn you that the selection is rather small. The bright side is, you will have less trouble deciding on what to eat.

Paper Baked Chicken is one of the items you can order from the ala carte menu. The chicken pieces are wrapped in baking paper, allowing the chicken pieces to fully absorb the sauce.

Maccha Shiratama Dumpling Dessert, together with Seasonal Fruits, are the only dessert available and it can be found together with the rest of the free-flow side dishes. It is simply small glutinous rice ball in watery maccha sauce.

Although Hifumi lacks variety and there is huge room for improvement in terms of the quality of the food, I guess it is alright if you just want a quick meal and you are not too critical about the quality of the food.
