Bismillah Biryani Restaurant - Probably The Best Biryani Anywhere?

After I published my review on Islamic Restaurant on Facebook, a Facebook user commented that Islamic Restaurant is overrated. He suggested that I try out Singapore Zam Zam Restaurant and Bismillah Biryani Restaurant.

I have already tried Singapore Zam Zam Restaurant and now I finally have the chance to visit Bismillah Biryani Restaurant. Let’s see how their briyani compares to Islamic Restaurant’s.

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant - Restaurant Front

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant’s signboard boasts “probably the best briyani anywhere”, let’s see if it’s really that good.

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant - Interior
I was unimpressed by Bismillah Biryani’s, or lack of, interior design. Compared with the grandiosity of Islamic Restaurant, Bismillah Biryani looks very bare.

The ceiling and top of the walls are painted a reddish-brown color while the lower half of the wall is white. Wooden tables are paired with with black-covered chairs.

Air-conditioning and ceiling fans keep the restaurant cool in Singapore’s sweltering tropical heat.

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant - Menu

Besides biryani, Bismillah Biryani also has many Indian starters and side dishes worth exploring.

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant - Chicken Biryani

This is the restaurant’s signature Chicken Briyani [S$9] which comes with a boiled egg and a piece of chicken. If one piece of chicken is not enough for you, you can also order Double Chicken Biryani [S$14]. There is also Kid Goat Briyani [S$15], Double Kid Goat Biryani [S$20], Lamb Shank Briyani [S$20], Lamb Chop Briyani [S$20], Grilled Fish Briyani [[S$12.50], Vegetable Biryani [S$8.50], Vegetable Biryani with Egg [S$9] and Tandoori Chicken Biryani [S$15] to choose from.

This is dum biryani where all ingredients are cooked together in large handis sealed with dough or cloth to trap the steam.

The basmati rice is not as soft and fluffy as Islamic Restaurant but it is well-flavored. The only problem is I keep biting on the spices. The chicken is well-marinated but the meat is a little tough.

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant - Mango Lassi

My favorite drink to have with biryani is Mango Lassi [S$4]. It is essentially mango yogurt, but serving it in bubble tea plastic cups makes it look less appealing. The yogurt drink itself is also tastes a little diluted.

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant - Kulfi

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant - Kulfi Inside
Kulfi [S$2.50] is an Indian dessert that I have not seen before so I decided to give it a try. It is often described as “traditional Indian ice-cream”.

Kulfi looks and tastes like ice-cream but it is much creamier and denser. Unlike ice-cream, kulfi is not whipped, resulting in a solid dense frozen dessert similar to traditional custard-based ice-cream.

After having tried Singapore Zam Zam Restaurant and Bismillah Biryani Restaurant, I can safely conclude that Islamic Restaurant is so far the best both in terms of quality of food and ambience.

You can find the address and opening hours of all Bismillah Biryani Restaurant outlets on their website

PAUL

PAUL is a renowned family French bakery and patisserie founded in 1889. Bringing with them them the fine tradition of passion for food and French traditions, PAUL gives Singaporeans a glimpse into French culture and tradition through the delicious and visually-appealing pastries and food.       PAUL's Hot Chocolate is not as creamy as I would have liked it but every last drop is made with good-quality cocoa powder.     Lemon Tart With Meringue is not exactly my favourite dessert, but it looked so pretty that I decided to give it a try anyway. However, it proved to be too sour for my palette even with the beautifully flamed meringue.    Croque Madame is croque-monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) topped with a fried egg. Emmental cheese, cream and ham is sandwich in pain de eie and toasted till a rich golden brown colour. Topped with a fried egg with runny yolk, every bite is filled with delicious goodness.   Address and telephone n...

O'ma Spoon

Korean bingsu is a popular Korean dessert comprising of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, fresh fruits, Korean rice cake and ice-cream. Bingsu is all the craze in Singapore now and Korean bingsu cafes are popping up everywhere like wild mushrooms.                            Besides bingsu, this dessert cafe also serves usual cafe offerings such as coffee and tea. I have been told that their Signature Oven-Baked Honey Bread is very good. The flavours include Strawberry & Chocolate with Ice Cream, Banana & Chocolate with Ice Cream and Green Tea with Ice Cream.     I was told that   Mango Cheesecake Bingsu   is one of the most popular item on the menu. Oh my, it is a sight to behold! A bowl of shaved ice is topped with sweetened condensed milk and freshly-cut m...

Grandma's - Authentic Singapore Food

Grandma's has been around for quite a while now but I only got the chance to try their food recently when the third outlet opened in Suntec City.        I remember having these prawn crackers when I was little. They are so easy and good to eat, I can finish a whole package of this in one sitting.     I don't usually order Malay food, but the Nasi Bukhari looked so good in the menu, I thought I will give it a try. Fragrant yellow turmeric rice is served with golden brown chicken leg which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Prawns were fresh and succulent but I don't really like the sauce the prawns are cooked in. What really amazes me about this dish is the beef rendang.          I never knew Bo Bo Cha Cha is so such a delightful dessert until I tried it here at Grandma's. The warm and thick coconut tastes so good with chunks of sweet potato and yam. This is definitely comfort food that warms the heart.   Gr...
